October 16 & 19 – No School for Students
There will be NO SCHOOL for Miami East students on Friday, October 16th and Monday, October 19th, due to WOEA (Western Ohio Education Association) Day. This is an in-service day for teachers in the area.
National Fire Prevention Month
October is National Fire Prevention and Safety month. During that time, the PK-8 building will be visited by the local fire department for at least one spontaneous unannounced drill.
Veterans Day Breakfast
It is with great pleasure to invite Veterans and Active Military Personnel that reside in the Miami East School District or graduated from Miami East Schools to the Miami East High School Veterans Day Breakfast. Spouses are welcome to attend. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, November 11 at 8:30am in the MEHS cafeteria. Please help spread the word so that Miami East can recognize those who deserve the honor. Please RSVP to the Miami East High School Office @ 335-7070 Ext. 3001 by Monday, November 2nd.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the ‘Princess For A Day’. We had 62 participants and will donate $600 to the March of Dimes to prevent premature births. A special shout out to seniors Kelsey Kirchner & Emma DeWeese for participating all 4 years of high school.
The Boys Soccer Team is hosting another Chipotle Fundraiser Night this Wednesday, October 7th from 6:00-9:00pm. Come show your support by slamming down your favorite burrito or bowl! Remember to tell the cashier that you are there for Miami East Boys Soccer!
This Friday, before the Covington football game, we will be holding a Tailgate for Trent fundraiser. Mr. Church’s son, Trent, was recently diagnosed with a stage one cancerous brain tumor and will be receiving treatment in Texas. Money raised will go towards the Church family’s travel and room expenses. Join us for dinner between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. Stop by to show your support for a fellow Viking!!
Attention interested junior and seniors: The following colleges will be visiting. The University of Findlay will be here today @ 1:45 p.m.; the University of Toledo, Tuesday, Oct.6th @1:00 p.m., the University of Cincinnati on Wednesday, Oct. 7th at 1:45 p.m., and Heidelberg University will be here Friday, Oct. 9th at 10:30 a.m. Sign up in the guidance office, see Mr. Rutledge if you have any questions.
Earn community service hours by volunteering at the Miami County Park District’s Fall Farm Fest at the Lost Creek Reserve on Saturday, Oct. 10th and Sunday, Oct. 11th from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Help is needed with various activities including a corn maze, corn shooter, hayrides, children’s games and more. You can volunteer for the whole day or just a few hours. See Mrs. Coffing for more information.
