     Omar Lozano is a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland,TN where he received his BA in Applied Music.  In 1999, he received his graduate degree from the University of Akron in Akron, OH.  He received his music licensure through the University of Toledo and Wright State University.

    Omar started his career in 2000 at Fairlawn Local Schools before coming to Miami East in 2009.  Mr. Lozano is active in OMEA.  He is a member of the OMEA State Vocal Selection Committee and the OMEA All-State Choir Southwest Region Chair.  Mr. Lozano and Mrs. Lozano served as choir directors for the 2019 Ohio Ambassadors of Music European Tour.   Mr. Lozano has experience in O.M.E.A. Solo and Ensemble and Large Group Contests.  Mr. Lozano was awarded the 2019 Ohio Music Educators Association Outstanding Music Educator Award.  His Jr. High School Sixth Grade and Seventh and Eighth Grade Honor Choirs earn Superior ratings at Adjudicated Events.  The Seventh and Eighth Honor Choir is one of the top three mixed choirs in the state of Ohio. This choir has also earned eight Superior ratings in a row.
    The high school symphonic choir performs in OMEA AA classification.  Members of this group have also performed with the Dayton Philharmonic and chorus.   

    Mr. Lozano is a part of the Ohio Northern University Department of Music where he teaches applied bassoon and reed making. He also performs as a bassoonist in the Lima Symphony Orchestra since 2008.  He also substitutes with the Dayton Philharmonic.  He is a staff sergeant with the 338th Army Band in Whitehall, OH.  He is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association and advisor for Tri-M Music Honor Society at Miami East High School.

    Mr. Lozano's fun facts:
    1. He is married with children.
    2. His first language is not English.
    3. He has family in Texas and Spain.
    4. Omar's greatest passion in life isn't music-it's eating.
    5. Mr. Lozano CAN'T dance-never ask him to.  You'll regret it.
    6. He has been known to do cartwheels if very excited about a rehearsal or contest result.
    7. He has visited Europe 6 times.  His wife thinks this isn't fair.
    8. He speaks 3 romance languages.
    9. His family is like the one in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," goat and all.
