Welcome to my short (and I do mean short) bio. As of the writing of this, I am about to start my 23rd year at Miami East Elementary. My first four years here I was a kindergarten teacher. For the past 18 years I have been enjoying fourth graders. I grew up in Northern Ohio in a town named Norwalk. It is about half an hour from Sandusky and an hour west of Cleveland. I graduated from a small town school, Monroeville High School. I received my Bachelor's degree from Grove City College in Western Pennsylvania about an hour north of Pittsburgh (very difficult four years for a young man who grew up near Cleveland). Shortly after starting here at Miami East I completed my Masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.Education is kind of the Roth family business. My mother was a teacher. One of my brothers and his wife are both elementary teachers in the Lakota school district. One of my other brothers is the superintendent of Edison Local Schools in Milan Ohio. My other brother didn't become a teacher but he made up for it by marrying one. My sisters are bankers, lawyers, and physical therapists (Not teachers either, but what are you going to do?) Oh, and my wife is a high school teacher at Springfield Catholic Central High School. As you might imagine, we talk about school, a lot. Which is fine because I can't imagine doing anything else.Every day, Mr. Roth gets to go home to his five loving, well-behaved children. Just kidding. I go home to this.
