• Honors Chem II is a rigorous course covering 2 semesters of college level Introductory Chemistry.  Students may enroll throught the College Credit Plus program at Urbana and earn up to 8 semester hours credit.

    Prerequisite      B or better in Chemistry, Physics and Pre-calculus or concurrently enrolled in Pre-calculus

    Permission of course instructor

    The course is the equivalent of first year college chemistry for Chemistry majors. Topics include atomic theory, chemical bonding, nuclear chemistry, properties and behaviors of gases, liquids & solids, solutions, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, thermodynamics, introduction to organic and biological chemistry.  Laboratory work and mathematical computations are major emphasis of the course.  Summer work may be required.  Expectations are commensurate with college level work.  Students not receiving a C or better may be removed at the semester
