    This standard will be addressed using short stories and poetry including 7th Grade and Oranges by Gary Soto
     
    The Week of September 5-9
     
    R.RL.03 - Analyzing and Explaining How Elements of a Story Interact
     
    This standard will be addressed using short stories Thank you M'am by Langston Hughes ( Setting, plot and mood) , and Raymond's Run by Toni Cade Bambara ( Characterization skills)
     
    This week will also include a jump start of grammar skills beginning with sentence structure.
     
    The Week of September 12-16
     

    7.R.RL.02 Evaluate themes of a text and analyze how the theme is developed while providing an objective summary of the text.


    7. R. RL .01 Cite text evidence to support an inference.

     

    These standards will be addressed using the short story  The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers, A variety of Pixar animated shorts, and we will begin our 1st novel, The Pigman by Paul Zindel

     

    This week will also include more grammar practice - sentence structure, and literacy skills - inferencing.
