• Seventh Grade Choir

     
    Jr. High required choir will learn choral classroom music.  This is a semester long class.  Students will learned how to approach part singing, basic sight-reading and posture and breath support.  Music is selected by the director and is taught part by part.  Typical concert selections will consist of Jr. high class C literature.  This class serves a feeder program into MEJH Honor Choir.  Grades are determined by class participation, attendance to class and one concert. 

    Miami East Jr. High Honor Choir

     
    MEJH Honor Choir has received Superior ratings at OMEA Large Group Contest 9 consecutive years from 2011 to 2019.  This elite group was chosen by blind audition to perform at the 2020 OMEA State Professional Development Conference in Cincinnati.  This class is a non-audition class that will cover and learn how to function in a choral classroom.  This is a year long class that meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30-12:05pm.  Students will learned how to approach part singing, basic sight-reading and posture and breath support.  Music is selected by the director and is taught part by part.  This is an advanced choir class.  Typical concert selections will consist of Jr. high class A literature.  This class serves a feeder program into MEHS Choirs.  Grades are determined by class participation, attendance to class and concerts.  If a student misses a concert they must come see the director and explain the absence occurred.  It is a parent and students job to inform the director of a conflict in advance.
