Good News Recognition

Wes Welbaum and members of the Staff Development Committee were recognized for coordinating the two staff in-service days August 15th and 16th.  The Board of Education was informed that both days were attended by a large number of staff members gaining additional professional development in the area(s) of smart board usage and curriculum mapping.  The staff was commended for taking part in both of these important staff development opportunities.

Mr. Rappold then informed the Board of Education that the results from the 2004-2005 report card had been sent out by the Ohio Department of Education.  This year’s report card for Miami East designates the district earning a score of 19 out of 21 indicators.  Mr. Rappold shared that this was fantastic news for the district and attributed the score to the dedication of the district’s staff, administration, and parental support.  Miami East High School earned an excellent rating by the state based in large part to the recent success on the Ohio Graduation Tests.  Both Miami East Elementary and Miami East Junior High earned effective ratings by the state.  These scores are misleading because the elementary only missed one out of the ten indicators, which means the students successfully passed 90% of their indicators.  However, to earn an excellent rating the building needed to pass 94% of the indicators.
