Regular Board
Meeting
Roll Call was taken with board members
Kevin Accurso, Brad Burton, Gayle Carson, Mark Davis, and Rusty Miller in
attendance.
Also in attendance were: Jenny Hodge,
parent; and
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Jenny
Hodge, parent, addressed the Board of Education requesting that her property
located within the Bethel Local School District be moved into the Miami East
School District. Mrs. Hodge explained
that her children are currently open-enrolled into the
Mr.
Miller stated while the Board of Education appreciates Mrs. Hodge’s efforts
they could not initiate the process of property redistricting. Dr. Rappold thanked Mrs. Hodge for attending
and commented that the family and children have had success while at Miami
East. Dr. Rappold reiterated comments
made by Mr. Miller and explained that the district did not wish to compete for
neighboring property in other neighboring districts.

of pay has been set at $75.00 per day
through 10th consecutive day and $83.00
per day from 11th
day through 60 consecutive day, then place on beginning
salary schedule.

LATE ARRIVAL FOR
FRESHMEN, JUNIORS AND SENIORS DURING ADMINISTRATION OF OGT:
Approval of Miami East High
School’s request to allow Freshmen, Juniors
and Seniors to arrive two hours late during the administration of the ACT and Ohio
Graduation Test during the week of March 15-19, 2010.

ALL-DAY EVERYDAY
KINDERGARTEN WAIVER:
Approval for Miami
East Local School District Board of Education to request a
delay of implementing all-day, everyday kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year
for
good cause, namely for funding and staffing.
OTHER
INFORMATIONAL/DISCUSSION ITEMS:
- Dr.
Rappold shared this month’s edition of The Board – “What to Consider When
facing
A
Precedent-Setting Decision”
- Board members discussed
their annual Board of Education Self-Appraisal.
- Board of Education annual tour of the campus
and classrooms. Board members requested
that Dr. Rappold select several possible dates during the month of May to
consider for the
tour of the campus, construction site, and classrooms.

Dr.
Rappold reminded everyone of the
– which will be held on Saturday, February 20 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

In addition, Dr. Rappold invited
everyone to attend Miami East’s 6th Annual Staff
Appreciation Night – Saturday, February 20, 2010.

Update
of the high school construction project.
The geothermal project has commenced this
past week. The first section of the
geothermal field is being installed directly in front of the
existing high school.
Bids were accepted for general construction of the new high school. The two apparent low bids
for each of the portions of construction are currently being interviewed by the
construction
managers and architects. Dr. Rappold
shared that a special Board meeting may need to be held
the first week in March to approve the general contractors for the project.
BOARD
MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:

General Discussion(s). Mr. Accurso shared that he has received
several phone calls
regarding transportation of the
baseball and softball teams this spring.
Mr. Donaldson
is making plans to set-up
transportation of these teams.
