As a lifelong resident of the area and a Class of ’94 graduate of Miami East I am aware of the outstanding reputation of the Miami East Local Schools and the quality education it provides.

In 1998, I received my Bachelors of Science in Education from Miami University

    Love and Honor

and in 2006 I earned my Masters degree in Secondary Social Studies Education.  This year marks my 22nd year in teaching. I have been fortunate that for the last 19 of those years, I have been employed as a social studies teacher here at Miami East High School.  Throughout my time at Miami East, I have worked hard to provide students with a meaningful education by emphasizing that academic subjects are not isolated but intertwined.  My teaching certifications in social studies, English, and reading enable me to show students that the social studies can provide a useful tool for appreciating the arts and humanities, that science and math are better understood in the context of history and government, and that reading is key to all subject areas.  Additionally, it is my wholehearted belief that teaching goes beyond that which occurs in the classroom. Therefore, I have tried to serve the students and the school by supporting the youth in all their endeavors—not just academics.  I attend sporting events  and school musicals, chaperone dances, participate in school spirit activities, and advise student organizations.  My commitment is to the students and their entire educational experience.
