Potential 2018 New York Trip Participants:
The New York trip has been tentatively scheduled for April 18—21st, 2018. The cost will be $1,100.00 per student. That price includes airfare, hotel accommodations, tickets to two Broadways shows, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 911 Memorial, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, airport/hotel motorcoach transfer, NYC tour guide/escort, Fifth Avenue, Central Park, SOHO, Little Italy, China Town, and other points of interest in New York.
Payments will be made in 6 installments for the 2018 trip. The first payment of $200.00 will be due May 31st, 2017, along with the form on the next page, completed and signed by your parent or guardian. This early down payment serves two purposes: it will help us to get better seats for our shows, and more importantly, it will help you by stretching the payments over a longer period of time. The remaining $900.00 will be paid in five (5) installments. A schedule is listed on the next sheet.
Now, let’s talk about those who will be eligible to go on the 2018 trip. Any senior who has completed at least one fine arts credit by the end of the 2017-2018 school year is eligible. This credit is mandatory-no exceptions will be made. The only way you can earn this credit is by successfully completing at least one full credit from the following list of Fine Arts courses:
Art I Chamber Choir
Art II Jazz Band
Art IV Concert Band
Art III Clays and Fibers
Guitar Lab Foreign Language
Marching Band (1/4 credit each year)
**Extracurricular Credits Accepted: Participation in Spring Musical (1/2 credit)
If you are eligible and you decide to go on the 2018 trip, you must return the attached form with your $200.00 payment to Mrs. Hall in the front office. All forms and payments must be turned in by May 31st, 2017. If you make the down payment and discover over the summer that you cannot participate, your down payment will be refunded if notification, in writing, is given by September 8th, 2017 (due date of second payment).
Miami East Principal and the trip sponsor, Mrs. Mumpower-Davis, reserve the right to remove any student from participating in the New York trip. Excessive absences, unacceptable grades, or serious behavior problems can result in removal. Students in danger of removal will be warned, and given a chance to correct whatever problems they are having. If the problems are not corrected within the time limits set, the students will not be allowed to go on the trip and will forfeit a percentage of any money that has been collected to that point.
