    About Mrs. Richters

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 36th year of teaching, and my 25th year at Miami East.   I began teaching at Miami East in 1999 and taught first grade for 2 years.  After having my first child,  I decided to teach part time and made a move to kindergarten.  I remained there for 9 years.  In 2010,  I moved back up to first and am loving it!   Before coming to Miami East,  I taught 6th grade in Bradford, OH, and Dayton, OH.  I also taught 3rd grade in Las Vegas, NV, and  5th and 6th grades as well as junior high in Omaha, NE.

I grew up in southern Oklahoma and attended college in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at St. Gregory's University before transferring to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where I received my B.S. in Elementary Education.  I received my Masters Degree from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI.

I live in Troy with my husband, Doug. I have two daughters, Meredith and AnnieMeredith gradated from Miami East in 2018.  She will begin her 2nd year of teaching  French and English at Bellefountaine, OH, as well as coaching the swim team!   Annie graduated from Miami East in 2021! She is a Junior at Ohio Northern University and swims on the ONU swim team.

In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, and assisting with the Miami East Swim team!!  Go Viking swimmers!

"Teaching has always been important to me. It is a career that I love very much.  My mission is to have high expectations of my students both academically and socially.  I will do all I can to help my students meet my expectations.  I want them to be productive both in and out of the classroom.
