Week of Dec. 2, 2019
ELA 2 is hard at work on their biography projects. They are reading and researching about their historial figures. Next week, they will turn in their Bottle Biography and paperwork.
ELA 4 & 5 have started on their nonfiction text, The Borden Murders, Lizzie Borden and the Trial of the Century. We have discussed how reputations are formed and can change. We are annotating in our books. The students are excited to read this text! Most are already trying to discover if Lizzie was guilty.
All students will begin Unit 6 in vocabulary this week. The test will be on Dec. 13. Students should be reviewing words daily. I will have study sessions for ELA 4 & 5 during 7th period study hall on Monday, Dec.9 and Thursday, Dec. 12. On Friday, Dec. 6, I will have a sign-up sheet for those interesting in attending.
All ELA students will be working on NoRedInk this week. We will review how to add quotes to our writing and how to punctuate them correctly. We will also begin the second section of commonly confused words.
Students are working individually on spelling. As the students continue to work through the website, some students will quickly move to higher levels. All spelling in online. Students can practice their words from any device. Tests are on Fridays. Students will have the opportunity to take the test on Wednesday. If they pass it with an A, they will not need to take the Friday test.
